Finale Ligure is one of Europe's biggest sport climbing playgrounds — over 30 crags, 200+ sectors, thousands of routes of technical, pocketed limestone stacked in the hills above the Mediterranean. It's famous for rewarding movement over muscle, which makes it one of the best places on the continent to actually get better, not just tired.
This is our full two-week Sport Climbing Course: 12 days of coaching from refreshing your safety systems and leading technique through to redpoint and onsight tactics, delivered by Jan Novotny and Lucas Gangloff across the area's best single-pitch cragging.
Grades run from a friendly 5 up to 8c, so absolute beginners transitioning outdoors and climbers chasing hard numbers are equally at home — and every evening ends the same way, with good food, a swim if you want one, and more climbing talk than anyone needs.

The Venue
One of Europe's biggest sport climbing destinations, Finale Ligure packs 30+ crags and thousands of routes of technical, pocketed limestone into the hills above the Ligurian coast — all within a short drive of the beach, a medieval old town, and some of Italy's best coastal food.
Climbable nearly year-round thanks to its range of aspects, spring is one of the sweet spots: warm enough to climb all day, cool enough that the shaded sectors are still an option when the sun sectors get busy.

Shared accommodation in local climbing hostels, cottages, campsites, or places run by local climbers. For higher-standard accommodation, send a personal inquiry by email or WhatsApp.
Getting There
Fly into Genoa for both arrival and departure. Local transport is organised once you land — no navigating Italian mountain roads solo.
Gear
Bring reasonably tight climbing shoes, harness, helmet, belay device, 2 screw-gate carabiners, and a 60cm sling. We provide most of the rest — full kit list once you book.
Group Size
Maximum 12 participants, roughly 7:1 coach ratio. Small enough for real coaching, never a crowd-control exercise.

Common Questions
What level do I need to be?
All levels, from beginners comfortable leading indoors at 6a (or 5 outdoors) to advanced climbers pushing 7c and beyond. Grades on this trip run from 5 up to 8c.
Is this single-pitch or multi-pitch?
This course is entirely single-pitch sport climbing — quick approaches, bolted lines, no rope-system complexity. Perfect for maximising your actual climbing time.
Do I need my own gear?
Bring reasonably tight climbing shoes, a harness, and a helmet. We provide belay devices and slings, but 2 screw-gate carabiners and a 60cm sling of your own are handy to have. Full kit list sent once you book.
Is food included?
Food arrangements and any included meals are confirmed before departure.
Where do I fly in and out of?
Genoa Airport, for both arrival and departure.
Is there a minimum group size?
Yes, a minimum of 3 participants. If that minimum isn't met, we'll offer a different trip or course of the same or higher value, or issue a full refund.
