Development history here is single-sourced to UKClimbing and not independently corroborated by the other 6 approved sources: aid climbing on the pinnacles in the 1950s, French climbers developing open walls in the 1970s, adoption of modern sport-climbing style with grade-8 routes established at Mascun in the 1980s, and further development from the 1990s onward crediting Jean Minh Trinh-Thieu, Francois Lombard, Dani Andrada, Chris Sharma and Dave Graham. Treat this history as UKClimbing's account specifically rather than fully independently verified fact.

Late April to mid-June and September to November are the best windows, independently corroborated by Climb Europe, UKClimbing ("September/October is probably the best time to go") and lezec.cz (May, June, September, October). No approved source explicitly states a blanket "avoid winter" or "summer marginal" claim - those were inferences in the old record, not sourced statements, so avoidSeasons is left empty rather than asserting a hard rule.

UKClimbing and Climb Europe agree: bring a 70m rope (Climb Europe suggests an 80m rope may sometimes be useful) and 15-20 quickdraws for the longer routes; a double lower-off is sometimes needed even with a 70m rope. Airport options and drive times disagree materially by source: Climb Europe names Zaragoza as closest (about 1 hour), with Barcelona (2hr) and Reus (1hr45) as alternatives; UKClimbing instead gives Barcelona, Girona or Reus at 3.5-5 hours with none ranked as fastest. Both sources agree Reus is a real option, so it is included alongside the other three rather than dropped. A car is necessary regardless of arrival airport.
