Strong body
stronger mind
Hazel started on Welsh sea cliffs as a child, won the British junior title six times, then left the plastic for real rock. In 2011 she climbed Once Upon a Time in the Southwest in Devon, the first British E9 by a woman, and in the same year made the first female ascent of Golden Gate on El Capitan. Pre-Muir Wall, Freerider and the Salathé followed. In 2019 she climbed Magic Line (5.14c) in Yosemite, the third ascent overall, placing every piece of gear on lead. In 2022 she added 9a with Esclatamasters.
Somewhere along the way she noticed that the hardest move is usually between the ears. Through Strong Mind she coaches climbers on fear of falling, pressure and focus, with online courses, a podcast and one-to-one work. Bold climber, calm teacher.
