Daila grew up in a surf village on Gran Canaria and spent her first eighteen years in the water. Then a climbing competition came to her hometown, and that was the end of the surfing career. After a few years on the island she packed up and moved to Catalonia, one of the best places on the planet for sport climbing, to learn from the people who climb there every day.
It worked. Daila has redpointed routes up to 8c+, and her 2010 ascent of Fish Eye (8c) in Oliana was one of the standout female performances of that year. She likes her walls slightly overhanging and her holds small, and she trains the old-fashioned way: by climbing outside. Since then she has travelled the world sharing the sport and appearing on magazine covers along the way.
