Sport Climbing Courses: Gym to Rock, Lead, Project, and Perform Outdoors

A Rockbusters sport climbing course takes you from wherever you actually are — first time outdoors, stuck at a plateau, or six days from a lifetime send — and builds the week entirely around that. We run three distinct courses, each solving a different stage of the gym-to-rock journey: Sport Climbing Basics, Beta Babes, and PROJECT X.

Who a Rockbusters sport climbing course is for

  • Gym climbers ready to move onto real rock for the first time
  • Climbers who've plateaued and need structured, individualized coaching rather than more unguided mileage
  • Women who want to progress in a format built specifically around how women climb best
  • Anyone with a specific grade goal — a first 7a, a first 8a — who needs sustained, focused time rather than a casual week away

What's included across every course

Included:

  • Individualized coaching — technical, mental, and tactical
  • Guiding and local knowledge, matched to your level
  • Climbing safety equipment and gear
  • Shared accommodation in local climbing hostels, cottages, or community-run housing

Not included:

  • Transportation
  • Accommodation of a higher standard than the shared option
  • Climbing and travel insurance
  • Food and drinks

Every course keeps a minimum of 3 participants to run, with a full refund or equivalent alternative offered if numbers don't add up.

The benefits of a structured course (vs. figuring it out yourself)

  • Real coaching while you're on the wall — footwork, body position, and mental approach corrected in the moment, not reconstructed from memory afterward.
  • A course matched to your actual stage — a first-time outdoor leader and a climber chasing their first 8a need completely different weeks, and Rockbusters courses are built around that difference rather than one generic format.
  • Faster, more durable progress — structured coaching compresses into a week what unguided climbing can take years to sort out.
  • A genuine climbing community — small groups, shared accommodation, and evening debriefs regularly outlast the course itself.

Quick answers

Frequently asked questions

Which Rockbusters course should I start with?

If you're new to outdoor leading, start with Sport Climbing Basics. If you're already leading 5.9–5.10 and want a women-only progression week, Beta Babes fits. If you're an established climber with a specific grade target and two weeks to commit, PROJECT X is built for that.

Do I need my own gear for these courses?

Climbing shoes and a harness you trust are recommended; safety equipment like ropes, helmets, and belay devices is provided on every course.

What if I'm not sure which grade range I'm actually at?

Get in touch before booking — each course lists a minimum level, and it's easy to check whether a specific course is the right fit for where you're climbing now.
