ROCK & ROAD 2026
ZILLERTAL
Week Three of the Rock & Road tour: six climbing days (rest day optional) on Austrian granite, where crystal friction replaces bolts and pockets, slab footwork replaces raw power, and alpine air replaces your gym-conditioned lungs.

Zillertal is the tour's reset button. After sandstone ethics and pocket-pulling power, Austria hands you clean granite slabs, crystal edges, and a whole new relationship with trusting your feet.
This is technical footwork country — thin smears, positive crimps that feel hand-carved, and exposure dramatic enough that you'll actually look at the view instead of just your chalk bag.
Seven days climbing surrounded by alpine meadows and mountain huts, evenings spent recovering in glacier-fed streams and demolishing Tyrolean dumplings in village cafés.

& Serenity
No stock photos, no staged sends — just climbers trusting their feet on Austria's finest granite.
The Pocket-Pulled & Power-Broken
Frankenjura left your forearms wrecked and your footwork rusty. Zillertal's granite slabs will gently remind you that climbing is also, occasionally, about your feet.
The Scenery Snob
You climb partly for the send and partly for the view. Alpine meadows, glacier-fed streams, and mountain huts deliver both in equal, unreasonable measure.
The Travel-Hungry Climber
You want Europe's best rock without Europe's worst trip-planning admin. We've handled the logistics for eight weeks straight — you just show up and climb.

Zillertal, Austria
The Venue
Pristine granite walls rise dramatically against Austria's most stunning alpine scenery. Rough, crystal-featured rock offers incredible friction and a completely different climbing style from anything else on the tour — slabs, cracks, and edges that feel sculpted for climbers' hands.
Home to the famous Ewige Jagdgründe crag and a valley full of hidden bouldering circuits, Zillertal's microclimate lets us chase perfect sending conditions across elevations, whatever the weather does.

What Past Climbers Say
One past Rock & Road climber credits Jan and the crew with pushing her far beyond what she thought her limits were — and with turning a summer spent climbing across Europe into one of the most meaningful experiences of her life.
Granite friction climbing completely changed how I think about my feet. I came for the scenery and left a genuinely better technical climber — I wasn't expecting either.
Recovering in a glacier stream after a day on the slabs might be the single best post-climb ritual I've ever had. Type-2 fun at its absolute finest.

FAQ
Common Questions
What level do I need to be?
You should be comfortable leading 6b indoors or 6a outdoors. Zillertal rewards technical footwork and trust over raw power — if you're strong but new to slab and friction climbing, you'll fit right in.
Do I need my own gear?
Bring climbing shoes and a harness you trust. We provide all safety equipment — ropes, draws, helmets, slings — plus a full kit list once you book (down jacket, headlamp, and yes, a sleeping bag).
Is food included?
Food arrangements and any included meals are confirmed before departure.
What if fewer than 3 people book?
We need a minimum of 3 participants to run this leg. If numbers don't add up, we'll offer an equivalent (or better) alternative trip, or a full refund. No hard feelings.
Can I join more than one week of the tour?
Absolutely — that's the whole idea. Book the full 8-week Rock & Road Tour at the current full-tour price and follow the sun (and the sends) across eight destinations.
Where do I fly in and out of?
Munich International Airport, for both arrival and departure.
