The emerald Tarn River has spent millennia carving one of France's most spectacular canyons — and along the way, sculpted limestone walls into a pocket-puller's dream. Every size, every depth, from shallow two-finger divots to jugs that swallow your whole hand.
This is powerful, pumpy climbing on vertical-to-overhanging terrain, with an unusually deep concentration of quality routes in the 7a–8b range. Your forearms have been warned; they didn't listen.
Seven days climbing above a river you'll actually want to swim in, evenings spent on aligot and local wine in villages that cling improbably to the canyon walls.

The Venue
Towering limestone walls rise dramatically from the winding, emerald Tarn River, creating a microclimate that's ideal for climbing and a setting that feels lifted straight out of a fairy tale.
The famous Gullich sector serves up hardcore pocket-pulling testpieces, but the canyon is scattered with countless other crags — enough variety to keep even the most restless climber occupied for the full week.

We stay in permanent caravans that belong to the campsite — a step up from a tent, with a real bed and a roof that isn't nylon.
Getting There
Fly into Montpellier. Local transport is organised via shared rental cars once you land — no navigating French canyon roads solo.
Gear
Bring your own climbing shoes and harness. We provide belay devices, helmets, and most safety gear, but pack a belay device, 2 screw-gate carabiners, and a 60cm sling if you have your own preferences.
Group Size
Minimum 3 climbers to run the trip. Small enough for real coaching, never a crowd-control exercise.

Common Questions
What level do I need to be?
You should be comfortable leading 6b indoors or 6a outdoors. Gorges du Tarn has an unusually deep concentration of routes in the 7a–8b range, so it particularly rewards climbers looking to push into harder grades.
Do I need my own gear?
Bring climbing shoes and a harness you trust. We provide belay devices, helmets, and most safety gear, but a belay device, 2 screw-gate carabiners, and a 60cm sling are handy to have of your own. Full kit list sent once you book (down jacket, headlamp, sleeping bag).
Is food included?
Food arrangements and any included meals are confirmed before departure.
What if fewer than 3 people book?
We need a minimum of 3 participants to run this leg. If numbers don't add up, we'll offer an equivalent (or better) alternative trip, or a full refund. No hard feelings.
Can I join more than one week of the tour?
