About This Trip

Trip overview

While some guides may only help you to get up the routes, in this course, we make sure you become a competent multipitch climber for all your adventures to come. Over the course of a week, you will learn about rope management, become literate in multipitch safety, and of course the best way to learn things is to do them as much as possible so you spend a lot of time climbing the variety of beautiful routes in Riglos.

Here is what we planned for you. Of course it all depends everyone's level, weather, will, … and can change flexibly:

  • Building safe belays
  • Rope management and handling
  • Abseils and retreats for returning to the ground
  • Communication techniques when climbing a multi-pitch route
  • Hanging belays
  • Self-rescue skills - worth knowing if you want to make it home safely
  • Trip planning: how to use a guidebook effectively
  • Risk assessment and management
  • Equipment education
  • Climbing techniques – efficient movement
  • Fear management – fear of falling, fear of failure
  • Mental preparation, concentration
  • Choosing the right strategy before and when on the wall
  • Climbing a project/projects using all the knowledge from first 3 days
  • Ongoing coaching and support from camp staff
  • Evening analysis of the day, tips, consultations
  • Individual coaching and guiding

The Venue

Los Mallos de Riglos is a group of freestanding conglomerate towers rising directly above the village of Riglos in Aragon, northern Spain. This is a destination built around exposure, route length and unusual rock texture, not roadside cragging - even bolted routes here feel like genuine multi-pitch days from the first pitch.
