Introduction to outdoor bouldering

If you are looking for your first step in bouldering outdoor or for technique coaching, this course is the one. No matter if you a starting boulderer or rope climber.

Test your skills to the limit without the hassle of a harness. With technical slabs, big overhangs or highballs, and no worries about doing yourself serious damage if you deck out, this course is a great way to build your skills in a top location. All you need is pair of climbing shoes and yor chalk bag!

 

Albarracin is one of the top spots for anyone who’s boulder-mad. Join us for one of our epic Rockbusters bouldering trips and you’ll get to take on some of Europe’s best sandstone. There are big roofs, overhangs and high balls aplenty, as well as slabs of all grades. And if you deck out, it’s never a big drop.

 

We can’t mention Albarracin without talking about the stunning scenery. This place is simply incredible and a killer backdrop to it’s world-class boulders. Our top coaches will be with you every step of the way helping you to master the following:​

 

  • Safety techniques - mat placement and spotting  
  • Using guidebooks and understanding grading systems 
  • Basic understanding of outdoor risks so you can make it home safely every day
  • Work on balance so that you climb in a more efficient way 
  • Time on slab and vertical ground to improve footwork for better climbing
  • Overhang work to build strength and confidence so you can take on tougher climbing challenges
  • Red point and flash attempts so you can tackle new boulders more easily

  • Understanding of ethics and etiquette

 

As well as building confidence, strength and taking on some tough climbs, this is a Rockbusters course, so you can also expect a hefty dose of fun! We love what we do and that really comes across in all of our trips and programmes. And… we like to party almost as much as we like to climb, so get ready to have a blast on and off the rock. The informal, fun atmosphere of our courses is famous, but we never let this distract us from your climbing progression.

What you need to know

  1. We welcome both novice and expert climbers.
  2. Be ready to push yourself so good fitness in essential.
  3. This is a climbing trip and our number one goal is to maximize your time spent on the rock.
  4. Worries free climbing vacation. Book your flights and leave rest to us. We sort out all logistics for you.

Typical day

Wake up, have a relaxing breakfast, coffee in local bakery. We will meet up at 10am to discuss the plan for the day so make sure you are ready to go!

8 – 10 am
10.30 am

All aboard! We pack into the van and head off to the crag.

Jump on some warm up climbs and start getting your body moving. Look up for some challenges for the day and figure out the beta. Of course there is always time for some cool coaching.

11 am - 2 pm
2 pm

Lunchtime! Pull out your packed lunch and relax on Spanish sun. This is also a good time to snap some photos.

Sending time. Using what you learned in the morning, and our individualized coaching, start nailing the projects down.

2.30 - 7 pm
7 - 8 pm

Time to relax with a well-earned beer from one of the local climbing bars. We will re-group, discuss the highlights from the day and what the focus will be tomorrow.

Pour yourself some Spanish wine/beer and get something to eat. Who knows where the night will lead… Mañana más y mejor.

9 pm
11 pm

There are no rules but most of us will be in bad this time!

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?

We provide all the gear, but you will need to bring your own reasonably tight climbing shoes and harness. We have few crashpads and will rent more depending the size of our group. We strongly suggest bringing a down jacket, a hat, a rain jacket, a pair of comfortable approach shoes, head lamp, sleeping bag, and a backpack big enough for carrying lunch and gear to the crag. 

FOOD

Upon arrival we will take you to the store to shop for breakfast and lunch food for the week. There is refrigerator in the hostel, and there are shops in Cornudella de Montsant to replenish supplies.

There are plenty restaurants and bars in Cornudella de Montsant to have dinner. Communal dinners can be organized if required.

Accommodation

Bunk rooms at bungalows in Camping Ciudad de Albarracin with hot showers, wifi, and restaurant/bar with nice food, coffee, beer, vine, ...
