Maribel Vara

Maribel tried rock climbing for the first time 12 years ago – on that memorable day Maribel put into practice skills they somehow already seemed to know. It was on a granite slab in La Pedriza, Madrid, Maribel’s hometown. Since that moment she has continued friction climbing, as well as exploring more climbable rocks all over the world.

Maribels craving for languages has led her to live in different places, and of course sample the different crags, in the US, Italy, Germany and France, plus many others. After working as a researcher in ecology and as a Spanish teacher (among other things), Maribel is currently pursuing her strongest passion by becoming a rock climbing guide.

Maribel says: ‘I very much like sport climbing, although lately I am psyched to get on some gear and jump into beautiful cracks.’
