All necessary skills and knowledge to be able to do single pitch sport climbs and to attack routes on or beyond your limit, such as:

  •     Choosing the right essential equipment for the best climbing experience while staying safe, and how to treat and store it
  •     Basic understanding of outdoor risks (so you can make it home safely every day)
  •     Proper belaying lead belaying techniques, catching falls dynamically
  •     Setting up top-ropes
  •     Lead climbing techniques
  •     Cleaning the anchors - retrieve all your gear
  •     How and when to use clipstick & other techniques to pre-clip the first quickdraw
  •     Climbing calls and communication - get your message
  •     Movement skills - climb more efficiently
  •     Perfect balance - support your center of gravity
  •     Proper footwork - trust in your feet
  •     Special climbing techniques (overhang techniques such as side-stepping, drop knee, flagging, heel hooking, kneebars, …)
  •     Redpoint and on-sight attempts so that you can tackle new climbs more easily

Physical & technical requirements

 

  •     Previous outdoor sport climbing experience is highly recommended: minimum grade indoor leading 6a / outdoor leading 5
  •     Suitable for women and men, children from 15 years old
  •     The course can be purchased by individuals, couples, or groups of friends
  •     Physical intensity: medium/high

Week 1: Ceuse & Surrounding Areas

Dive into what’s often described as the best sport climbing crag in France. Ceuse offers beautifully pocketed limestone with outstanding lines and a magical location. Experience everything from overhanging jug feasts to steep technical walls on single-pitch routes that have achieved legendary status in the climbing world.


Week 2: Verdon Gorge

Test yourself on the stunning limestone walls of the Verdon Gorge. Experience the thrill of multi-pitch routes with hanging belays, as well as single-pitch sport routes accessed from the valley floor. The dramatic scenery provides an unforgettable backdrop to your climbing adventures.


Week 3: Les Calanques

Discover the unique climbing experience of Les Calanques, where limestone cliffs meet the Mediterranean Sea. With over 2,500 bolted sport routes spanning 8 distinct climbing areas, you’ll experience everything from technical slabs to steep overhangs in caves, and multi-pitch routes up to 250m long.


Week 4: Gorges du Tarn

Experience the incredible limestone canyon of Gorges du Tarn, famous for its vertical and slightly overhanging walls with technical, crimpy routes. This spectacular river gorge offers over 600 routes on pristine limestone, ranging from powerful overhangs to delicate face climbing. Enjoy the unique atmosphere of climbing above the emerald waters of the Tarn River while surrounded by the natural beauty of the Cévennes National Park.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?

Reasonably tight climbing shoes / harness / helmet / belay device / 2 screw gate carabiners / 60cm sling

We provide most of the gear, but you will need to bring your own climbing shoes and harness. We have belay devices, slings, and helmets, but you might prefer to bring your own you use to. We strongly suggest bringing a down jacket, a hat, a rain jacket, a pair of comfortable approach shoes, a headlamp, a sleeping bag, and a backpack big enough for carrying lunch and gear to the crag.
