WOMAN ONLY CLIMBING coached by Daila Ojeda

28.11.2020 - 05.12.2020

This FEMALE CLIMBING CAMP with Daila Ojeda is designed to give you the opportunity to learn the necessary safety skills, improve your technique and push your sport climbing limits in a supportive environment, coached by one of the worlds' best female climber.

Daila Ojeda is known not only for her extremely difficult ascents in Catalonia, but also for her inspirational attitude and psyche. Although pro climbers rarely can contribute their time to coaching, Daila loves giving back to the community by running courses and workshops. In collaboration with Rockbusters, she has led many great trips and helped lots of climbers reach the next level in their climbing.

This coaching camp is designed to provide a comfortable, safe, and supportive environment where female climbers can learn from one of the world’s best climbers, Daila Ojeda, in one of Europe’s top sport climbing destinations. It’s not about the grades, women can and do climb as hard as men -- but with different body types and strengths, female climbers can require different instruction and beta. These specialized camps aim to prove that raw power isn’t everything, and concentrate on women further discovering what their bodies are capable of and how far they can push them while emphasizing the importance of precise footwork, increased flexibility, and good mind control for developing into a stronger climber.

All of this takes place in the climbing mecca of Siurana, a quaint medieval village surrounded by a seemingly unending amount of tall, orange limestone cliffs begging to be climbed. The views are breathtaking and the climbing community unmatched.  Women of all ages and abilities are welcome and our dedicated coaches Daila, Petra and Juli are here to challenge you while ensuring you enjoy every step of the journey. This unique experience provides the opportunity to build relationships, connect, and climb with other awesome women rockstars that love every minute they spend on the rock.

This trip runs in the traditional Rockbusters masterclass format designed and delivered by women for women . This means that you will bring the psych and the desire to push yourself, and our pro-climber coach will provide you with the tools necessary to succeed. After just one week of coaching you will not only know much more about physical and psychological climbing techniques, but will also have practiced them on the rock.

On our “Girls on Rock” trip you will learn:

  • how to belay safely, set up a top-rope, and lead climb. We’ll also cover other technical aspects to build up your knowledge

  • how to use a guide book and local knowledge to get to know a climbing area in order to choose routes that best suit your style

  • how to use climbing calls and communicate efficiently so you won’t sound like a rookie

  • basic and advanced movement skills for improved efficiency and better climbing

  • How to cleaning anchors and a gain basic understanding of outdoor risks so everyone gets home safe

  • different techniques for slabs and verts

  • efficient movement, saving energy and resting

What kind of coaching to expect?

After meeting Daila and the Rockbusters team, we’ll discuss your goals and choose the most suitable crag for the group. Then we’ll get started on the rock, where you’ll be spending plenty of time.... Learning will consist of short workshops, between climbing routes and practicing the moves.

Slab/vertical ground

Focusing on footwork, you will learn to find balance and use the most efficient and effective ways to propel your body up the rock without wasting energy. You will learn how to work with friction, make delicate steps and calculated, technical moves.

Overhangs

You’ll develop and practise skills to help you handle climbing steeper rock faces. We will cover footwork and techniques such as drop knees, heel and toe hooks. A lot of time will be dedicated to the fine art of resting while climbing, as well as fighting “the pump”, both mentally and physically.

Onsight vs redpoint techniques

Climbing onsight and projecting more difficult lines differs both physically and mentally. Daila Ojeda will cover the most effective strategies for success while onsighting or working a route over many days. You will have plenty of time to practice these and internalise the new skills.
