SANDSTONE CLIMBING CAMP, Czech Republic28.09.2019 - 05.10.2019

One of the best types of rock for climbing in the world (not that we’re biased) this course is perfect for climbers with a bit of experience looking to get their next set of kicks – all on the world famous Elbe Mountains.

If you’re familiar with British gritstone then Czech sandstone will be surprisingly similar. If you’ve got no idea what we’re talking about then all you need to know is that the Czech sandstone of the Elbe Mountains is one of the best rock types for climbing.

This is your chance to experience some of the most unique and exciting Czech climbing, accompanied by some of the finest guides you could ever wish to meet (even if we do say so ourselves). It’s perfect for climbers who’ve got a fair bit of experience under their belt, but open to anyone who can belay safely and tie on without assistance.

For Indoor climbers it is the ideal first step into outdoor climbing - you’ll get a kick out of testing your skills in the open. The Elbe Mountains are considered by many as one of the best sandstone climbing destinations on the planet.

On this trip you’ll add to your arsenal of climbing skills:

  • Top-roping and lead climbing - someone has to tackle the face first

  • Equipment use, storage and maintenance to help it last well and keep you safe

  • How to use a guide book so you can explore new areas and pick your own routes

  • Movement skills so you can traverse the face and build technique and strength

  • Understanding of outdoor risks so you don’t make any rookie mistakes

Throughout your stay you’ll be guided by a local climber and route developer who’ll use their local knowledge to take you deep into the Elbe sandstone. These ancient rocks straddle the border between German Saxony and Czech Bohemia and are, not surprisingly, a national park. The River Elbe has carved a narrow gorge through the soft sandstone, creating some stunning cracks and crevices that will get serious climbers pretty aroused.

All of this climbing is accompanied by the legendary Rockbusters good time experience. We know how to climb and we know how to party, and we want to do both with you. Come and be part of the crew in this top Czech mountain destination.

For those who are just starting out, check out our other courses for beginners and intermediate climbers and use this as a goal to work towards. You won’t regret it.
