Take your first rock climbing steps with us. In this intensive beginner's course, we will teach you all the basic sport climbing skills so that when you are finished, you will be able to pack your climbing gear and go to practice sport climbing anywhere on your own. You will be able to climb sport routes safely using both top-roping and leading techniques.
This course is an ideal choice for beginners as a transition from climbing gyms to rocks, and for a bit more experienced climbers aiming to learn how to lead climb.
Minimum of 2 participants. In other cases, we will offer different trips/courses of the same or higher value, or issue a full refund.
Moving from indoor climbing walls to the raw challenge of outdoor rock faces is a significant milestone for any climber. The Rockbusters Beginner Learn to Lead Climbing Course offers this transition in a structured, supportive environment that delivers lasting benefits beyond just technical skills. If you’ve been contemplating taking your climbing journey to the next level, here’s what you stand to gain from this unique program.
The 6-day intensive format of the Rockbusters course provides ample time to develop and refine crucial lead climbing techniques. Unlike weekend workshops that barely scratch the surface, this program takes you through setting up top ropes, advanced belaying methods, including dynamic fall catching, and efficient route cleaning.
You’ll learn these skills on actual rock in premier climbing destinations like Frankenjura, Germany or Sella, Spain – places where the techniques you’re learning were practically born. This real-world application means you’re not just theoretically prepared but practically experienced in various climbing scenarios and rock types.
With a maximum 5:1 client-coach ratio, the personalized attention you receive transforms how quickly you progress. This isn’t about false confidence – it’s about earned trust in your abilities through proper training and practice.
As one participant, Miha Popovic, shared: “Even though I was there only for a couple of days, I came out with a set of new tips on how to become better, how to actually train, and more importantly, what to train on more.”
The course’s rigorous safety protocols – including mandatory partner checks, systematic safety procedures, and clear communication protocols – ensure you’re not just climbing boldly but climbing smartly. You’ll develop risk assessment skills that become second nature, allowing you to make sound decisions in various climbing situations.
One often overlooked benefit is the relationships formed during these intensive six days. The small group size (2-12 participants) creates an intimate learning environment where you’ll connect with fellow climbers who share your passion and challenges.
These connections often extend beyond the course, giving you potential climbing partners for future adventures and a network to continue sharing knowledge. The shared experiences of learning, failing, trying again, and succeeding create bonds that enhance your climbing journey long after the course ends.
Learning to lead climb at world-class destinations adds another dimension to your training. The course locations aren’t chosen randomly – they offer diverse climbing experiences that broaden your skills in ways a single location cannot.
The professional guides bring extensive local knowledge, introducing you to routes perfectly suited to your developing abilities. This exposure to different rock types, climbing styles, and environments accelerates your learning curve and versatility as a climber.
The Rockbusters Beginner Lead Climbing Course offers more than just technical instruction – it provides a transformative experience that elevates your entire approach to climbing. From technical proficiency to safety awareness, from community connections to exposure to world-class climbing locations, the benefits extend far beyond the six-day program.
If you’re ready to move beyond the plastic holds of indoor gyms and test yourself against the natural challenges of rock, this course offers the perfect balance of challenge, support, and expert guidance to help you make that transition safely and confidently.
Whether you choose the summer sessions in Frankenjura or the fall opportunities in Sella, you’re not just signing up for a course – you’re investing in skills that will enhance your climbing experiences for years to come.
reasonalby tight climbing shoes / harness / helmet / belay device / 2 screw gate carabiners / 60cm sling
We provide most of the gear, but you will need to bring your own climbing shoes and harness. We have belay devices, slings, and helmets, but you might prefer to bring your own you use to. We strongly suggest bringing a down jacket, a hat, a rain jacket, a pair of comfortable approach shoes, a headlamp, a sleeping bag, and a backpack big enough for carrying lunch and gear to the crag.
Upon arrival, before you get to the place of your final destination you will need to stop in the store to shop for breakfast and lunch food for the week. Usually, there is equipped kitchen with a refrigerator in the place and close by shops to replenish supplies.
There are plenty of restaurants and bars to have dinner. Communal dinners can be organized if required.
There is a basic shared accommodation organized by Rockbusters to make sure everyone has a place to crash. Our main goal is to integrate you into the local climbing communities and for these purposes, we use local climbing hostels, cottages, campsites, or places run by local climbers.
