While northern Europe shivers through January, Rockbusters runs a sport climbing course on the limestone cliffs of Leonidio, Greece — a small Peloponnese town overlooking the Myrtoan Sea that's quietly become one of Europe's most sought-after winter climbing destinations.
Leonidio's cliffs are vivid red and orange limestone, riddled with tufas, pockets, and crimps — over 1,000 routes across multiple sectors, from gentle slabs to steep, sustained overhangs. Twin Caves is the warm-up sector, with routes from 5a to 6c. Hot Rock steps things up, home to the area's famous "Mamma Mia" at 7b+ alongside plenty of other quality lines. For climbers chasing something harder, Mars offers terrain up to 9a. All levels — the course is structured across the full range. Beginner sport climbers (5a–6a) work on fundamental technique and confidence on real rock; intermediate climbers (6a–7a) refine movement efficiency and mental approach to break into harder grades; advanced climbers (7a+) work specific projects and technique directly with the coaches. Basic belay skills and some indoor or outdoor climbing experience are expected of all participants. Groups are capped at a maximum of 8 climbers, so coaching stays genuinely individualized regardless of your level.

The course runs as a one- or two-week trip with daily guided climbing at Leonidio's premium sectors, plus technical sessions on movement for limestone and tufa formations, mental training, and endurance strategy for longer routes. It's more than climbing time on the wall: a welcome dinner of authentic Greek food, a rest-day excursion to nearby beaches and cultural sites, evening technique workshops with video analysis, and a final celebration with the local climbing community round out the week. Accommodation is shared, arranged locally in Leonidio hostels or Airbnb apartments rather than a generic hotel, keeping you close to the climbing community rather than isolated from it.
